Experimental Art Journal

The Mad Scientist is at it again! I created an art journal for experimenting with collage and design techniques. I used the Sculpture Paper method that Terra presented in the Mixed Media University (and because she said you can't dry it with a heat gun, I tried it. Beware the surface dries and the underside doesn't so if you crumple, UGH! lol) BUT if you layer another piece of paper towel over, it becomes a sort of faux leather consistency when it dries, too thick to crumple but pretty cool (i think!).

The image is the digi Mad Scientist from Smeared Ink, colored with colored pencils and cut out. The sentiment is Stencil font in Works and computer generated. The covers are recycled chipboard and the inside is paper bags bound in 3 signatures of 12-16 pages with dental floss (didn't have any waxed linen/thread). I want to give this a go again and try to take some pics of the process for you but not today. The finished book is roughly 6"x 6.5"x 2". The technique to assemble the outer journal is from the Rustic Journal course at Green Isle Crafts. The signatures were assembled a little differently (I will have to look for the source.)
